Printer networks often aren’t administered and used efficiently. Without cost analysis, who generates cost where for what reason and when, which cost is justified and what is waste of money, remains unclear. Cost analysis is necessary for the decision maker within the company to get a detailed overview about the current cost regarding all print jobs and thus lays the foundation for an optimization strategy.

The JScribe Intelligence Server Solution (JISS) enables the tracking and recording of all print activities in a Distributed Printing Infrastructure.
It assigns a precise data allocation of all users and attached output devices – also the locally attached desktop printers - in order to create a detailed asset inventory database. The detection and collection of all output devices take place automatically, without manual intervention. The database is part of the JISS and has interfaces to other database systems. To generate spreadsheet or accounting calculation the exporting data functionality allows transferring the data in common output format (xml, csv, xls or doc).

The Print Report Manager WEB front end is build to achieve higher system utilization by combining multiple workload statistics and reports that give a complete overview about overall print volume or detailed reports of several predefined categories. Printing costs can be individually assigned to the different divisions or cost centers. Not the content of the print data is recorded, but the relevant information such as sender, volume, b/w or color, single / duplex, the document type, number of prints, etc. These reports can be generated individually; respectively all standard reports can be adapted.

The average costs per page at the device level can be defined and by doing so the JISS can determine the print related cost per print job and the utilization of a specific device.
